Swirly Snowflakes Coming Up

It is soon snowflake weather in Minnesota and many places.  But for some, they will never see snowflakes.   For those of you where no snowflakes fall do you buy snowflake stamps?  I have always wondered that.

I always tease that we can use them 9 months out of the year, but that is an exaggeration.

Snowflake Sentimetns stamp set & Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

The card and package were created using the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set & Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Dies and Big Shot.   I could not resist the Swirly Snowflake Dies as I loved the border on this package.  Mine has just arrived so I haven't had time to play with them and will share some of the Stampin' Up! concept artists samples and a fun video.

Look at the delicate shiny foil snowflakes on this card with the subtle Pool Party paper from the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper.  And to finish it off the Silver Metalic Edge Ribbon.

I wanted you to see the fun cutouts you can achieve with the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Dies and the Big Shot.  The die set has 7 different dies in it.

  1. Is one of the snowflakes cut apart from the row of snowflakes to create individual snowflakes.
  2. Is the row of snowflakes
  3. Is a fun little tag
  4. Created a scalloped edge with small holes.
  5. There are two small snowflakes
  6. A fun little swirl

Sunday Sketches SS002 - Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper

Sunday Sketches is making the second round.  A year ago I started the sketches and decided that it would be fun this year to recreate a new card using the original sketches.

Sunday Sketches SS002 by Stamp to Die For-horz

This week is SS002 and I choose to use the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper and coordinating Birthday Friends Framelits Dies.  The dies are designed to cut out some of the images in the designer series paper.  On this card, I cut out the little girl from the paper and also the flag.  The "It's your big day!" sentiment from the Birthday Delivery stamp set was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad and then cut out using the coordinating framelit.

Sunday Sketches SS002 card sketch template using Birthday Deliavery stamp set & Brithday Friends Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

The base of the card made using Pacific Point cardstock which is part of the Stampin' Up! Brights Framily.  The Brights are part of the Stampin' Up! core colors and each year they add some amazing In-Colors that are good for 2 entire years of creative fun.

Sunday Sketches SS002 Birthday Memories designer paper by Stampin' Up! Birthday Card www.stampstodiefor.com 2

The oval was cut out of Whisper White cardstock using the Layering Ovals Dies and Big Shot.  The little girl was placed on the ovals using Stampin' Dimensionals to give it some great depth.

The strip of Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper is 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" and adhere to the card front 1/4" from the bottom.

This is a very quick and easy card also known as clean and simple in the stamping world.  I love simplicity for most of my card making.

Be sure and check out the original post and see the difference.   Have you created any cards using my Sunday Sketches? It's never too late to give it a try.

Border Buddy Saturday - Gift Packaging

It's Border Buddy Saturday and it's Alison here today.

I remember when my kids were little they were much more interested in the box the gift came in than they were with the goodies inside.  I find myself now in the same place when it comes to pretty wrapping.  Sometimes the pretty gift packaging is as nice as the gift inside.

Christmas Packaging 1 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

These little packages of goodies are so easy to make for any occasion.  I used our 2" x 8" Cellophane Bags and loaded them with candy treats.  Then I topped them with a character from the Seasonal Chums Stamp Set.  These little images are so nostalgic and can be cut out with the Seasonal Tags Framelits Dies (buy together and save 10%).

The Halloween treat bag is filled with Hersey's Nugget Candies wrapped in a piece of the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.  I just cut them 1" x 3" and wrapped them around the nugget and then filled the bag.  So cute and super easy.  You could also fill them with Candy Corn or another Halloween treat.

The Reindeer and Snowman bags are filled with chocolate covered raisins and Scotch Mints representing reindeer "poop" and snowman "poop".

The little rhyme on the side of the bags read:

I've heard that you've been naughty!
Now listen, here's the scoop.
I'm running short on coal this year,
So you get Reindeer (or snowman) Poop!

The concept artists used some of these images for another cute packaging idea - Hot Chocolate in a Jar!

Holiday17_p46d

When you stamp the image it includes a front and a back and then you use the matching framelit to cut it out.  So simple!

Here's another Trick or Treat idea with the bags and Pumpkin topper:

Just in CASE Birthday Memories Square Card

BB JUST IN CASE

Each Thursday Alison and I each CASE (copy and share everything) from one of the current Stampin' Up! Catalogs.  Today I choose a card from 2017 Holiday Catalog on page 39.

Just in CASE Birthday Deliver stamp set & Birthday Friends Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 2
It is an exact CASE except for the stamp set and ribbon.  I replaced the Hearts Come Home stamp set with the Birthday Delivery stamp set and the coordinating Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.  I also replaced the Real Red 1/8" ribbon with the Quilted Christmas ribbon.

It may seem like it I don't own every stamp set, but I don't so sometimes I have to improvise sometimes, that is what CASEing is all about.  I am sure there are times you love a card and don't have the stamp set.  I hope you find the CASE cards helpful for you to see how to substitute a stamp set you may have on hand.

Just in CASE Birthday Deliver stamp set & Birthday Friends Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com
The cake is cut out from the designer paper using the Birthday friends framelits die and Big Shot.   For the scalloped edge frame, I just placed the Scalloped edge circle from the Layering Circles Framelits on a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock and then placed the little smaller circle inside and punched.   Then using the smaller circle I placed it on the card front in the center and cut it out and then adhere the scallop frame around the cutout circle.

Just in CASE Birthday Deliver stamp set & Birthday Friends Framelits by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com s
The corners of the tag are called ticket corners.  If you don't have a special ticket corner punch you can always use a small circle punch.  Most people have one of those in their stamping collection.

Ticket Corners using corner rounder punch by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com
I usually use my punch upside down so I can see what I am doing.  For the ticket corner just place the corner of your cardstock into the circle punch at the desired depth and punch.   Repeat on all four corners.

Mixed Drinks and Two-Step Stamping

Mixed Drink Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Two Step Stamping www.stampstodiefor.com a

Does everyone love easy?  Two-step stamping is one of the easiest ways to give your card multiple colors.  It is so quick and easy and no coloring involved.

Mixed Drinks Photoplymer Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Mixed Drinks is one of many two-step stamp sets that Stampin' Up! sells.  It involves stamping a couple of different stamps to create one image.  One of the benefits of two-step is added color without coloring.  Photopolymer stamps make lining up easy because of the ability to see through the stamps.

Mixed Drink Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Two Step Stamping www.stampstodiefor-tile

  • In the first photo, they have stamped the glass, sentiment & ice cubes using three different stamps.
  • You can see in the second photo they have stamped the solid stamp in Daffodil Delight Classic Ink creating the lemonade in the glass.
  • In the photo to the right, they have stamped the straw in Berry Burst Classic Ink.

Mixed Drink Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Two Step Stamping www.stampstodiefor.com b

The stamping for the glass and sentiment actually was done using 5 different stamps.

  • Glass Outline
  • Ice Cubes
  • Sentiment
  • Lemonade
  • Straw

The background of the card was stamped using Daffodil Delight Classic Ink on the Daffodil Delight card base.

The final touch to the card was adding some of the 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon in Berry Burst.  I love this ribbon as while it is a bit wider it is so soft and easy to tie and lays nicely.   The also added a bow using Whisper White Baker's twine and attaching it with a glue dot.

While lemonade season may be one it's way out here in Minnesota, it is still a favorite of our granddaughters when we go out to eat.

Here we go again - Sunday Sketches SS001

Sunday Sketches SS001 Colorful Seasons Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 2
For the past year, I have done a new card sketch each Sunday and created a hand stamped card using the sketch.  Today I am going to start over and create another card using the original SS001 card sketch.

Sunday Sketches SS001 card sketch template Colorful Seasons stamp set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com
I really do love how this card turned out.  It was a work in progress.  Usually, I can see a card in my head but not today.  I just started with the Pool Party Cardstock base (4-1/4" x 11") and added the piece  (3-1/4" x 5-1/2") of Whole Lot Of Lovely Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the center of the card base.

And it just grew from there using the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set and Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies and Big Shot.

The branches, flower center and sentiment are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink,  The flowers on the branches are stamped with Tangerine Tango Classic Ink and the single flower on the circle is stamped in Pool Party Classic Ink.

Be sure and click here to check out the original card I stamped.   See how using the same sketch and changing up the stamp set and colors can make it look totally different.   What do you think?

Just in CASE - One Big Meaning

World Card Making Day 2017 Sale

Designer Series Paper Buy 3 get 1 FREE button

It's Thursday and time for another CASE.  This is where Alison and I pick out a card to copy from one of the current Stampin' Up! Catalogs (2017-2018 Annual Catalog or the 2017 Holiday Catalog).  I chose to case a card from the Annual Catalog this week.

Just in CASE One Big Meaning Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com
Left: Stampin' Up! Card pg 131 Annual Catalog ~ Right: My CASE

Most weeks I try to change up the stamp set or colors but this week I did an almost exact CASE.  Sometimes it is very enjoyable to just sit down and stamp and not have to think too much.

The only thing I changed on the card was the background.  I just ordered the Pinewood Planks 3D Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder but it had not arrived yet, so I substituted it with the Hardwood Background Stamp.

Just in CASE Thankful Thoughts by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com

The sentiment on this card is the focal point and comes from the One Big Meaning Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! I grab this stamp set often as my go to Thank You set.   Don't forget Newsletter subscribers receive a FREE PDF Tutorial each Friday with the directions for the Just in CASE Card.
